Our client, a fast-growing Canadian consulting engineering firm operating internationally, with over 1,300 non-unionized employees in various provinces, is looking to fill a position of PayMaster on its payroll team of 5 professionals. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the PayMaster will be responsible for supervising and actively participating in the production of an efficient and rigorous payroll. The incumbent will also be called upon to participate in the implementation of best practices in payroll management. The payroll system used is ADP Workforce Now.

Main responsibilities :
  • Act as a resource person for payroll information in a high-volume, multi-site, multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional and international environment, as well as HR policy interpretations.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll system platforms (ADP WFN, ADP USA) and audit of employee data.
  • Coordinate the entire payroll process and process payroll information, ensuring compliance.
  • Perform and reconcile various remittances to third parties, including year-end (governments, insurance companies, RRSP and DPSP, T4, R1, etc.).
  • Administer hirings, terminations, inter-provincial personnel movements, salary changes, retroactivity and any other payroll modifications.
  • Produce government reports and other statements relating to payroll, employment relationships, benefits and taxes.
  • Ensure technical and administrative follow-up of vacations, time banks and benefits.
  • Administer benefits in accordance with laws, regulations and standards regarding working conditions.
  • Improve payroll processes by implementing best practices.
  • Carry out the various accounting entries resulting from payroll processing.
Profile required :
  • More than five years' experience in payroll management
  • College diploma in accounting or equivalent
  • PNI Payroll Compliance Specialist certification (an asset)
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian tax laws and government regulations
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both oral and written
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and ADP Workforce Now (an asset)
