Our client is a large organization in the maritime sector, producing payroll for 4,000 workers in Quebec, Ontario and Eastern Canada. The payroll system used is SAP.
Summary
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Paymaster is responsible for coordinating and executing payroll. In a multi-territory context, he or she acts as the Director's right-hand person in certain situations to ensure that payroll is produced under the right conditions. He or she is an experienced contact person who is consulted both internally and externally to respond to employees and member companies of the organization.

Main responsibilities
- Compile, verify, and process payroll data to ensure accuracy.
- Perform payroll calculations for assigned territories.
- Ensure employee records are maintained in coordination with payroll team members.
- Manage certain payments in employee records.
- Set up and track complex wage garnishments and alimony payments.
- Act as a resource for partners and employees on payroll standards issues
- Ensure compliance and quality of operations
- Monitor the application of collective agreements in the payroll system
- Anticipate upcoming legislative changes and their implications
- Prepare and manage employment records as needed
- Respond to various requests requiring the production of reports and analyses
- Participate in strategic discussions and decisions within the payroll department
- Participate in the year-end process, including the production of tax slips
Profile required
- Minimum 6 years' experience in payroll management
- DEC in administration, accounting or related field
- National Payroll Institute certification (an asset)
- Knowledge of SAP HR Payroll module (an asset)
- Bilingual in French and English
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook
- Organizational skills, autonomy and attention to detail
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team
