Our client manufactures environmentally friendly metal roofing systems. Founded over 90 years ago, the company employs more than 430 people across Canada. The payroll team consists of two professionals and is currently migrating to the UKG system. The workplace is based in Victoriaville.

Position summary

Under the supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Analyst handles a variety of complex  duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of payroll, salary, and benefit calculations. Analyzes and updates payroll and benefit data on a monthly basis. Designs and maintains a database to organize, collect and retrieve data into required reporting formats.

Main responsibilities
  • Researches payroll and benefit record-keeping issues, including sick leave and vacation, and performs appropriate action as needed.
  • Plans and monitors work production timelines to meet deadlines in reporting regulations.
  • Receives invoice of agency employees and reconciles the information to the timesheets and before proceeding with the payment once approved.
  • Generates different types of payroll reports/analysis for HR.
  • Participates in month-end reporting.
  • Generates reports for the Finance.
  • Executes month-end payroll analysis.
  • Delivers weekly/monthly remittances.
  • Make sure that the payroll deposit file will be approved by Finance.
  • Once a week, with the Payroll Manager, is responsible for producing pay for plant employees.
  • Every two weeks, with the Payroll Manager, is responsible for producing pay for office employees.
  • Produce all journal entries for Payroll and do entry in SAP.
  • Produce weekly Payroll forecast.
  • In the Payroll Manager’s absence, is responsible for producing weekly and/or bi-weekly pay.
  • Follows up with HR for STD payments, employees on LOA, terminated employees.
  • Prepares paperwork for all changes done by HR and verifies if payroll payment is accurate
  • Produces ROEs
  • Is responsible for paying or reimbursing items in line with the Collective Agreement for unionized employees
  • Is the point of contact for questions related to pay.
  • Assists in the development of new procedures for the department
  • Leads the implementation of the company's culture
Profile required
  • 5 years in payroll and benefits administration or commensurate experience
  • College degree or experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of employment and tax legislation
  • Proficient with Office 365 (Excel advanced)
  • Proficient with UKG or other payroll system
  • Proficient with SAP system
  • Discretion, honesty and confidentiality
  • Rigor, precision, good judgment
  • Bilingual English and French
