Our client is an organization that owns several luxury hotels and restaurants in Montreal and Ottawa, and employs some 1,000 people, some of whom are unionized.
Summary
Reporting to the Paymaster, the Senior Payroll Technician plays a key role in the rigorous execution and monitoring of the complete payroll cycle. Thanks to his or her technical expertise and autonomy, the Senior Payroll Technician ensures accurate and compliant payroll processing, while supporting operations related to benefits, legal obligations and collective agreements. In addition to participating in process improvement, the Senior Technician acts as a resource person for team members and internal partners. Their analytical skills and attention to detail help ensure reliable, efficient service in line with regulatory requirements.

Main responsibiities
- Ensure the complete processing of bi-weekly payroll
- Carry out quality controls and identify discrepancies or anomalies in payroll data, in collaboration with Paymaster for necessary corrective action
- Participate in the preparation of year-end activities (T4, statement 1, opening of fiscal year)
- Monitor payroll-related administrative files: vacation, vacations, RRSPs, group insurance, wage garnishments, work permits, etc
- Create and update employee files (physical files and HRIS)
- Participate in group insurance and RRSP processing
- Issue Records of Employment
- Participate in processing CNESST files (compensation calculations, follow-up)
- Contribute to the compliance of payroll practices with tax laws, government standards and collective agreements
- Provide first-level support to managers and employees in connection with payroll and benefits
- Participate in the production of audit reports and the analysis of payroll data
- Act as a resource person for Payroll Technicians and collaborate with the Paymaster in process improvement.
Profile required
- Minimum 5 years' experience in full-cycle payroll processing
- College or technical diploma in a relevant field (an asset)
- Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce, Workday, ADP or similar payroll software (an asset)
- Knowledge of unionized payroll (an asset)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
